He is her husband. She is his captive.
Her husband calls her Jane. That is not her name.
She lives in a small farm cottage, surrounded by vast, open fields. Everywhere she looks, there is space. But she is trapped. No one knows how she got to the UK: no one knows she is there. Visitors rarely come to the farm; if they do, she is never seen.
Her husband records her every movement during the day. If he doesn’t like what he sees, she is punished.
For a long time, escape seemed impossible. But now, something has changed. She has a reason to live and a reason to fight. Now, she is watching him, and waiting . . .
I have just inhaled this book and im feeling quite bereft! What a bloody fantastic book. Will( aka the one with the good hair) … is a phenomenal writer. This is his first standalone and what a first it is.
I had seen a big buzz around this release so was delighted to finally get my hands on a signed copy. The buzz is worthy!
This had me instantly hooked and inside the pages but also Janes world…or lack of. Sensitively written, incredibly thought provoking and powerful.
This was a once you start you have to finish in the bath job. You completely immerse yourself in the pages and are compelled to cheer and admire the strength and relisance shown.
Dark, haunting, captivating and downright traumatizing. I lived in 2 abusive and controlling households so I could envisage the tension and fear. Packed with suspense this is a excellent psychological thriller .
Raising awareness and understanding of a important subject.
This deserves all the awards and i highly recommend .
