BOOK REVIEW ANOTHER WOMANS CHILD BY KERRY FISHER

Could you take in your best friend’s child, even if it risked destroying your own family?

Jo had thought that her life – and her heart – was full. With a busy job, a husband and a teenage daughter who is going off the rails, keeping her life running smoothly had already felt hard enough.

But now Jo sits at the funeral of her best friend Ginny, crushed by the loss of a friendship that had endured for thirty years: from college and their first days at work through to settling down and raising their own children.

Against her husband’s wishes, Jo has made a life-changing decision: to take in Ginny’s teenage son Victor and raise him as her own. Despite her misgivings, Jo feels she had no choice: Ginny was a single parent and Victor had no other family who could take care of him.

But Victor’s arrival is about to break open the fragile cracks that were already forming on the surface of Jo’s family life and in her small rural community… and expose a secret that has remained hidden for many years, with devastating consequences.

Firstly a big thank you to the publishers for my copy to review on netgalley. I am a big fan or Kerrys writing which has the ability to work through real life issues.

This is a thought provoking book of a family whose dynamics change massively. This examines the many issues that arise .

Teenagers, playground behaviour and thats just between the adults, secrets and friendships..

A brilliant book from start to finish . Kerry expertly deals with the subject of race and the pressures on teenagers.

BOOK REVIEW THE LIES YOU TOLD BY HARRIET TYCE

Can you tell the truth from the lies?

Sadie loves her daughter and will do anything to keep her safe.

She can’t tell her why they had to leave home so quickly – or why Robin’s father won’t be coming with them to London.

She can’t tell her why she hates being back in her dead mother’s house, with its ivy-covered walls and its poisonous memories.

And she can’t tell her the truth about the school Robin’s set to start at – a school that doesn’t welcome newcomers.
Sadie just wants to get their lives back on track.

But even lies with the best intentions can have deadly consequences…

I absolutely loved Harriet’s debut so i was so excited to read this, it doesnt disappoint! I started it in the afternoon and finished this evening reading at every available moment.

Her writing has the ability to reel you in straight away . Its addictive, thrilling and so clever. I found myself shouting internally at the charactars and just getting a bad feeling about a lot of them.

This is a story about jealously, competitive parenting and lies. Lies from the past and lies from many many people. As a parent i could relate to the playground dramas so much.

I absolutely loved every page and couldnt get enough. The story is plotted amazingly and packed with intrigue and suspense. The sense of foreboding hanging over Sadie and Robin was enough to give me a cold chill.

Im jealous of those who are yet to discover Harriet’s books, you are in for a treat! Now to wait for her next masterpiece…...

BOOK REVIEW KNEE DEEP IN LIFE BY LAURA BELBIN

Laura Belbin survived hitting her thirties (oh, to be wrinkle-free again), anxiety (just), motherhood (two adorable little shits) and the new body that went with it (a left tit that sags slightly more than the right, anyone?). In Knee Deep in Life she gives a fearless and filthy account of her transformation from no-responsibilities woman to being in demand 24/7, the heartaches and humiliations, and most importantly, her (definitely-pushed-to-the-limits-but-totally-indestructible) marriage to Steve, the man who helped her to hold it together when post-natal depression kicked in.

Full of heart and wit – not to mention swearing that would make a sailor blush – this is the beast of a book Laura intends on riding into the hands of those people who doubt themselves every single day: the ones who have struggled to accept the way they look; the mums-to-be about to find themselves taking their first step towards parenthood; and the women bossing it like badasses every single day but never getting the credit they deserve. You are more than enough.

I have been a huge fan of Laura’s for a while and was very excited to see she had a book coming out. It is a excellent book.

Honest, straight talking and doesnt just deal with the pretty topics . There were many times i gasped and related to her .

Its funny, witty and real. All the things that make you giggle in her social media are articulated in her book.

Thank you Laura for sharing her truth and as someone writing theirs it inspired me.

I wish her every success and look forward to getting my book signed one day.

Keep being you and making us all feel human in our cock ups.

Firstly a big thank you to the publishers for my copy to read on netgalley. I absolutely loved her debut so couldnt wait to read this.

This is a culturally relevant book about social media and the good bad and ugly surrounding it.

Its written from different narratives to capute many sides of the story for the reader. It is dark and haunting but relatable. As humans we think the grass is greener and that perfect instagram post is 100 accurate.

Thought provoking excellently written and plotted. It is tense and as the pages turn the truth is revealed.

BOOK REVIEW THE PUSH BY CLAIRE MCGOWAN

From the bestselling author of What You Did comes a stunning psychological thriller. One party. Thirteen people. By 3.02 p.m., one of them will be dead.

The party should have been perfect: six couples from the same baby group, six newborns, a luxurious house. But not everything has gone to plan, and while some are here to celebrate, others have sorrows to drown. When someone falls from the balcony of the house, the secrets and conflicts within the group begin to spill out …

DS Alison Hegarty, herself struggling with infertility, is called in to investigate. She’s convinced the fall was not an accident, and finds the new parents have a lot to hide. Wealthy Ed and Monica show off their newborn while their teenage daughter is kept under virtual house arrest. Hazel and Cathy conceived their longed-for baby via an anonymous sperm donor—or so Hazel thinks. Anita and Jeremy planned to adopt from America, but there’s no sign of the child. Kelly, whose violent boyfriend disrupted previous group sessions, came to the party even though she lost her baby. And then there’s Jax, who’s been experiencing strange incidents for months—almost like someone’s out to get her. Is it just a difficult pregnancy? Or could it be payback for something she did in the past?

It’s a nightmare of a case, and as events get even darker it begins to look impossible. Only one thing is clear: they all have something to hide. And for one of them, it’s murder.

Firstly a big thank you to the publishers for approving my request to read on netgalley. I had the pleasure of meeting Claire at capital crime last year so was really excited to read her newest book.

This is a who done it and the story builds up to reveal who and what happened at this party.

Unlikely friendships are formed at a baby group but are people really who they say they are? These friends are from all walks of life and all with their own secrets to hide.

A fast page turner of mystery thriller.

Packed with suspense ,twists and turns.
