BOOK REVIEW THOSE PEOPLE BY LOUISE CANDLISH

MEET THE NEIGHBOURS YOU’LL LOVE TO HATE
Until Darren and Jodie move in, Lowland Way is a suburban paradise. Beautiful homes. Friendly neighbours. Kids playing out in the street. But Darren and Jodie don’t follow the rules and soon disputes over loud music and parking rights escalate to threats of violence.
Then, early one Sunday, a horrific crime shocks the street. As the police go house-to-house, the residents close ranks and everyone’s story is the same: They did it.
But there’s a problem. The police don’t agree. And the door they’re knocking on next is yours.

Firstly im a huge fan of Louise’s, ive had the pleasure of meeting her a few times and shes lovely..Shes certainly not letting her success go to her head. I was invited to the launch of our house last year and said to her … watch this space its going to be huge! A year on and its scooped awards and still selling like hot cakes. I was lucky to be at her launch for Those People, with great people ,wine and cake .

Louise definitely knows how to write about people you may think twice of inviting to dinner. However through her charactars that make us judge it also makes you question yourself. Why as humans are we so quick to label and judge others? Its fascinating stuff… In Those People Louise has created a street where everyone gets on and their peace is shattered when the new neighbours move in. But is all as it seems? We open with the fact that something has happened, we dont know what ,how or to who. The book then alternates between the charactars which enables the reader a real insight into each household. Louise explores the dynamics between neighbours and how it can go so wrong when they dont play ball.

Gripping and thrilling she has done it again and its great to see her success and i wish her even more with this release.
