BOOK REVIEW A YEAR AT CASTLE COURT BY HOLLY HEPBURN

Sadie is a single mum, nursing a broken heart. Her best friend from childhood, Cat,is burned out from working long hours as a chef in Paris. In need of a change, they decide to invest in their dream – running their own handmade biscuit shop in gorgeous Castle Court, a three-storey food court tucked away behind Chester’s bustling streets.

They soon discover that Castle Court has its own community – a little haven of delight against the stresses of the outside world. But not everyone welcomes the new business; the patisserie owner is less than pleased by what she sees as direct competition and Greg, who runs the fancy bistro that dominates one end of the courtyard, doesn’t think Sadie and Cathave the talent or business acumen to succeed. Luckily, there’s support in the form of the delectable Jaren, who owns the Dutch waffle house opposite Smart Cookies, and Swiss chocolate-shop owner,Elin. And if all else fails, the friends can drown their sorrows in Seb‘s cocktail bar on the third floor!

Firstly a big thank you to sj for my beautifully wrapped copy which arrived with a christmas card.

The books and the city team do spoil us bloggers.

I devoured this in one go and its a perfect ingredient to escape with.

Days on im still thinking of the charactaers as they were all great…especially Sadie . I could relate a lot as a single mum and making tough decisions.

Full of fun ,humour, friendship and romance.

This book reminds us to take chances and live our lives.

This is a feel good book and Holly writes with a familiar heartwarming style of Cathy bramley whos an author i adore .

Published 27th December and i wish her every success with this book.

BOOK REVIEW THE RUMOUR BY LESLEY KARA

When single mum Joanna hears a rumour at the school gates, she never intends to pass it on. But one casual comment leads to another and now there’s no going back . . .
Rumour has it that a notorious child killer is living under a new identity, in their sleepy little town of Flinstead-on-Sea.
Sally McGowan was just ten years old when she stabbed little Robbie Harris to death forty-eight years ago – no photos of her exist since her release as a young woman.
So who is the supposedly reformed killer who now lives among them? How dangerous can one rumour become? And how far will Joanna go to protect her loved ones from harm, when she realizes what it is she’s unleashed?

Ive heard a lot of praise for this debut book on twitter so definitely a easy pre order and Christmas treat for me.

The cover and title are inticing so can see this attracting a lot of readers.

This is a excellent and cleverly written story and really shows what can happen when people dont think before they speak.

As someone studying psychology i find group behaviour fascinating to read and observe.

However also as a mum i know full well the constant fears we face in todays society so how would i react with information about a killer possibly living on your doorstep.

This makes you think outside your comfort zone .

You can feel the paranoia increase with each chapter especially when the threats get closer to Joanna and her family

Who can you trust?

Fast paced,twisty and compelling.

Lesley injects an addictive flow of her words and i cant wait to read more from her.

Will keep you guessing till the very end.

Eve Glace – co-owner of the theme park Winterworld – is having a baby and her due date is a perfectly timed 25th December. And she’s decided that she and her husband Jacques should renew their wedding vows with all the pomp that was missing the first time. But growing problems at Winterworld keep distracting them …

Annie Pandoro and her husband Joe own a small Christmas cracker factory, and are well set up and happy together despite life never blessing them with a much-wanted child. But when Annie finds that the changes happening to her body aren’t typical of the menopause but pregnancy, her joy is uncontainable.

Palma Collins has agreed to act as a surrogate, hoping the money will get her out of the gutter in which she finds herself. But when the couple she is helping split up, is she going to be left carrying a baby she never intended to keep?
Annie, Palma and Eve all meet at the ‘Christmas Pudding Club’, a new directive started by a forward-thinking young doctor to help mums-to-be mingle and share their pregnancy journeys. Will this group help each other to find love, contentment and peace as Christmas approaches.

Firstly a warm festive thanks to Annabelle for my copy.

Milly is a author you know will deliver, just like having a long soak in a hot bath. Her books always guarantee fantastic charactars and the chance to escspe.

In this beautifully titled christmas book we meet a array of great women with their bumps in common.

Full of humour and emotion this will make you fill up with joy and sadness.

My favourite charactar was palma who was a strong willed independent lady who hadnt had the best of starts in life….. sounds very familiar! Does she take a chance on love ? And she faces some huge decisions.

Fantastically written and you can see why she is a bestseller, having met millie too you can see her personality shine through in her stories.

Pop a copy in your christmas shopping basket and enjoy!

Be sure to check out the other blogs taking part in the tour.
