Brighton Beach, 1993
Teenagers Nell and Jude find the body of a young woman and when no one comes to claim her, she becomes known as the Brighton Mermaid. Nell is still struggling to move on when, three weeks later, Jude disappears.
Twenty-five years on, Nell is forced to quit her job to find out who the Brighton Mermaid really was – and what happened to her best friend that summer.
But as Nell edges closer to the truth, dangerous things start to happen. Someone seems to be watching her every move, and soon she starts to wonder who in her life she can actually trust…
Firstly a huge thank you to the penguin team for my proof copy…this went straight into my hand for next read.
Im a huge huge fan of Dorothys books and was thrilled to have my review quoted in her book.
As a firm fan of her work i have watched her grow and expand as a writer.
The cover itself entices you and sets the scene for a chiling tale.
This has a very sinister feel to it and was very unpredictable.
As always i whizzed through it not wanting it to end but dying to know the truth .
Full of suspense and mystery be prepared to go on a ride .
Emotive and thrilling this makes for a compelling read.
This is darker then some of her other books but that is what makes her books so enjoyable as they are not always the same. Sign of a excellent writer.
Update since i read this i had the pleasure of meeting her….. !!! We geeked out over marvel and yes i did fangirl…
Cannot recconmend enough for your summer read ..or if like me your binge read.
I wish her every success.
