Some friendships are made to be broken
Cornwall, summer of 1986.
The Davenports, with their fast cars and glamorous clothes, living the dream in a breathtaking house overlooking the sea.
If only… thinks sixteen-year-old Tamsyn, her binoculars trained on the perfect family in their perfect home.
If only her life was as perfect as theirs.
If only Edie Davenport would be her friend.
If only she lived at The Cliff House…
Firstly a big thank you to the hq team for my hugely anticipated copy.
This is a book i have been dying to read as im a big fan of Amanda’s writing. Since reading the judas scar shes had a firm reader in me.
This book will be huge this summer so grab it quick…
I finished this last night and if i was to pick one word to describe it …haunting … as my dreams were haunted with the cliff house.
We have all at one point at least in our lives especially when younger been envious of others . We also have had that one friendship / relationship that is slightly toxic. Therefore as a reader it is easy to put yourselves in Tamsyns shoes.
Determined to not have a dull summer she is delighted when Edie befriends her… but is all as it seems up at the white house …
Told through different narratives we can feel the tension building up .
Incredibly written and a dark tale of what happens when we really believe the grass is greener on the other side.
Full of teenage angst , grief and obsession this makes for a intense grippping journey.
Completely unpredictable and powerful writing from beginning to end
I recommend this and wish her every success .
