The first rule of Sunday Lunch Club is … don’t make any afternoon plans.
Every few Sundays, Anna and her extended family and friends get together for lunch. They talk, they laugh, they bicker, they eat too much. Sometimes the important stuff is left unsaid, other times it’s said in the waswrong way.
Sitting between her ex-husband and her new lover, Anna is coming to terms with an unexpected pregnancy at the age of forty. Also at the table are her ageing grandmother, her promiscuous sister, her flamboyantly gay brother and a memory too terrible to contemplate.
Until, that is, a letter arrives from the person Anna scarred all those years ago. Can Anna reconcile her painful past with her uncertain future? The first rule of Sunday Lunch Club is … don’t make any afternoon plans.
Firstly a huge thank you to sj at books and the city for my beautiful proof copy. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to read this early .
Books like this are why I’m a book worm…it has everything. This reminds you there is beauty and goodness in the world .
I have had the pleasure of meeting Juliet several times and that adds to the richness of her writing as her personality shines through
This made me cry laugh and swoon.
Imagine a recipe for a meal that has all the ingredients plus the added bonus which gives it that kick. That is how this story is woven making it a beautiful tale of love ,loss, family, friendships and second chances .
Each character has a uniqueness to bring to the book each with their own secrets ,hopes and dreams .
As the weeks go on and more Sunday lunches are eaten they each come to realise things and people are not what they seem.
The truth can hurt but in order to really move forward in life sometimes we must deal with the pain it brings .
Full of wit ,warmth and love I really recommend this .
As a mum I could relate to a lot and there was a male character…I won’t give spoilerss but he stole my heart .
I wish Juliet every success with the Sunday lunch club and hope this review has done it the justice it deserves!
