BOOK REVIEW THE ART OF BEING NORMAL BY LISA WILLIAMSON

Two boys. Two secrets. David Piper has always been an outsider. His parents think he’s gay. The school bully thinks he’s a freak. Only his two best friends know the real truth – David wants to be a girl. On the first day at his new school Leo Denton has one goal – to be invisible. Attracting the attention of the most beautiful girl in year 11 is definitely not part of that plan. When Leo stands up for David in a fight, an unlikely friendship forms. But things are about to get messy. Because at Eden Park School secrets have a funny habit of not staying secret for long …

This is estelles book that she chose with Christmas vouchers and she whizzed through it loving it and was quite emotional when she finished .

By chance I was laying on her bed and it was there and I started reading .

I was annoyed I couldn’t just finish in one go as Thursdays are my busy day so was reading bits here and there but finally finished on way home .

This book is amazing and very powerful .Its funny and deals with so many sensitive and relative issues that I think everyone not just teenagers should read this as this will open your mind and warm your heart .

It is a beautiful friendship between David  and leo and through that they help each other grow and to self identify .

This really helped me to put myself in their shoes and to understand more of how they are feeling .

A fantastic read that helps to be avoid prejudices and grow on compassion.

I look forward to more from this author and estelles has already ranked it as one of her top reads of 2015!!
