BOOK REVIEW THE LAST ANNIVERSARY BY LIANE MORIARITY

From Liane Moriarty, million copy selling author of The Husband’s Secret, comes The Last Anniversary, a captivating story laced with mystery.

‘This is your last chance to change your mind, Rose. After today we can’t go back. Ever.’

Seventy-three years have passed since sisters Rose and Connie found an abandoned baby in the only other house on their little island, Scribbly Gum. With both parents vanished without a trace, Rose and Connie made the decision to take the baby in as their own. And since then the ‘Munro Baby Mystery’ has brought them fame and fortune.

But now, with Connie dead and outsider Sophie Honeywell inheriting her home, Rose begins to wonder if they made the right decision all those years ago. With the anniversary looming, and people still trying to solve the mystery, how much longer can they cover up the lie that has sustained their little community for four generations? And what other secrets are about to be revealed?

This has been republished recently I believe and after loving all the others ive read I had to have .

I love Lianes writing, its very addictive and once you pick the book up you cant wait to find out the secret .

I did enjoy this book but not as much compared to her others .

I felt it was a bit slow at times. The big twist was clever but I did guess it was something along those lines .

The storyline I enjoyed the most was of Grace who was very clearly suffering from post natal depression this was dealt with brilliantly .I suffered with this myself so I could really relate to this character.

There are a mixed bag of charactars who each bring their own to the book .

A good read but a disappointment due to high expectations from her other books .

This is a story of lies ,family history and love .

BOOK REVIEW KEEP QUIET BY LISA SCOTTOLINE

One decision. One family’s future in ruins.

When Jake Buckman decides to let Ryan, his sixteen-year-old son practice driving home along a deserted street, he has no idea of the deadly consequences.

But in the darkness of night, a runner comes from nowhere and the hit is fatal.

Now Jake and Ryan have two options: admit Ryan’s responsibility … or drive home as though nothing happened. What follows is not a clear-cut hit and run, but a split-second decision by a father who will do anything to protect his son.

How much should a parent sacrifice for their child?

And could any family survive the burden of such a terrible secret?

Thank you to Headline and Bookbridgr for sending me a copy to review .I haven’t read any of this authors previous books so wasn’t sure what to expect .The cover was very enticing .

This book took a while to get into and it wasn’t as gripping as it possibly could have been.

Its set in the dads perspective and it would have been interesting to have read the sons to enable a clearer view of the event.

It does make you think and question what would you do as a parent in that situation and how far we go to protect our children

There are twists and turns and the family life is not all it seems to be .

I enjoyed the ending and the way the story played out .At times it felt there were bits not explained properly making me a bit confused .

It was interesting to read a story based on mainly the sons and fathers relationship and bond as its usually a mothers relationship looked into.

It does question your values and ideas .

A good read but not as gripping as I would have liked .

Back to normal .

So we have had half term and before we know it ,its back to being hectic !! I already have a manic November with all sorts of meetings etc ,and it looks like it could get busier .

Im currently on  a course called living with autism which is fantastic .This is every Thursday and I have 2 more weeks .But I already have another relevant parent /special needs course booked for Jan .I think being around other parents in the same boat is sooo important!!

I have another cahms assessment for lynx in a few weeks because the first 2 hour one wasn’t enough .

Im doing training to become a beanstalk volunteer .

Due to the LA refusing to assess lynx I am appealing but now having mediation first .

There are phone calls emails other meetings and also a hospital appointment which im dreading.

How has my life become this roundabout of time and meetings etc .

I have over last few months got out of routine of exercise and when you look at my schedule is it any wonder but I don’t like feeling unfit so need to sort that out as its also important for mental health .

I have so much information etc in my head and have no one to share the load with and its easy to lose sense of you in it all .Not to mention having another child with her own needs .

I miss having  affection and reassurance but also a distraction from stress and the worries .

So I feel like a walking Filofax atm tho I do forget things lol

A huge thank you to Jaime frost at Harper Collins for kindly sending me a copy to review .Now im not one to get excited about Christmas till December so for me to finish  a festive read early November shows how much I love this author and this book .

I have read  the first in the Carrington’s series,I have the whole series so look forward to finishing them . I loved her writing and her ability to create a  world within a book with lovable characters and great storyline.

This is a new series and looks set to be just as lovable and successful if this book is anything to go by .

I could not put this down ,I read the last chapter whilst cooking dinner lol .

On more than one occasion I went aww and kids were asking why ?

This is a gorgeous book ,I actally want to live in Tindledale !! This is a story of how heartbreak can be overcome with friends old and new,a new challenge and a visit to the drs 😉 on that note one part including the dr made me chuckle really loud .

It has funny moments but also captures emotion not only in Sybils own life but those she meets along the way .

I haven’t a clue how to knit or have any knowledge on it but that did not stop  me from cheering the knitting on an the charactars .

Alexandra has such a lovely flow to her writing that you are racing through the pages without realising .

A heartwarming enjoyable festive read 🙂

BOOK REVIEW THE BEST THING I EVER HAD BY ERIN LAWLESS

Five years ago at university they had been seven friends that laughed hard and loved harder.

Nicky and Miles were the couple that were always meant to be… Leigha and Adam, not so much…

So when Adam and Harriet grew close during endless days in the library, they did the one thing that changed everything – they kept a secret. And when it came out, it all fell apart.

When the day comes for bridesmaids to be chosen and best men to fulfil drunken promises, Nicky and Miles’ wedding isn’t just a wedding, it’s a reunion – loaded with past hurts, past regrets, past loves…

Every now and then you read a book so beautiful and emotive that after you have closed the pages you simply hold the book to your heart for a while . This is one of those,I cant believe this is a debut novel .

I won this book a few months ago so had been on my pile for a while so when I participated with a  fellow bloggers sunday challenge one in which its  a different theme each week .This week was a  rom com so I headed straight for this one and I was not disappointed . This blogger can be found on twitter @thischickreads .

I fell in love with Adam that I will miss him …crazy I know .Sometimes as a single woman these books just remind me what im missing and show my heart hasn’t frozen over just yet .

This is a book about friendship, secrets ,love and most importantly finding who you are in life .

I love Erins writng style and  fantastic range of charactars and I cant wait to read her future books .

Hannibal

Im going to give a review ( a show of love ) for this tv show .I had seen a few episodes when it was on tv previously but for whatever reason I didn’t stick to it . So when 2 great authors on twitter were not only raving about this show but making fanfiction I knew I had to give it a watch !  As I couldn’t find on Netflix or on demand I ordered season 1 via amazon and stuck in .It was amazing ,eerie and sick yes but such clever tv Hannibal or mads mikkelsen gets in your head he is a fantastic actor who has a way of making things kind of sexual ?? will graham ,played by Hugh graham is gorgeous and he will pull your emotions. It is  a a game of cat and mouse one in which will comes to his senses too late .  How will is able to see the crimes is incredible and  the fact he was possibly on the autism spectrum kind of grabed my attention straight away . I was hooked and watched all 13 episodes within a week and instantly pressed that buy button for season 2.

By this point I was hooked ,living ,breathing  and dreaming Hannibal so the sensible thing to do would be to have a break …hell no on that season 2 went and I watched in 3/4 days .

Season 2 is even more gory several episodes and scenes lingering  a bit longer than others .

The chemistry between will and Hannibal is intense  and each episode is better and better

Im not even going it a review am I …im just saying its incredible and you need to watch it . I cannot wait till season  3 .
